If you want to have a top-notch oral health and a healthy smile, then it’s best to take advantage of the recovery period following oral surgery in Omaha, Nebraska. If you don’t properly recover, your smile could suffer severe negative consequences.
So, to help you heal after oral surgery, our Village Pointe Oral Surgery team strongly recommends that you use the following tips:
-Make sure to relax for a few days following your surgery. When you lie down, try to limit the bleeding and swelling by propping your head up on pillows.
-Ice outside the area for 15 minutes on and 15 minutes off throughout the day. Icing will help reduce swelling and will also provide comfort.
-After the bleeding quits, you can eat soft foods. Some foods we recommend eating include soups, yogurts, fruit, milkshakes, smoothies, and mashed potatoes.
-If your doctor gave you antibiotics, make sure to take them at the prescribed times.
-Do your best to keep your mouth clean. You can do so by rinsing your mouth four times a day with warm saltwater. However, we encourage you to wait to rinse until after the first 24 hours following surgery.
